Here’s how it works: ShelterCare Pet Insurance Programs cover you when your pet needs essential veterinary care from an illness or injury. Also, every time a completed application for a ShelterCare program is generated through our shelter’s website, we automatically receive a $25 donation to help cover common needs like blankets, litter and food. This donation is of no cost to you and provides us with essential funds. Make the right move and enroll today!

NOTICE TO SHELTER VISITORS AND HARALSON COUNTY CITIZENS

We are all feeling the impact of the down turning economy.  The Animal Shelter is not exempt from the effects of it either.  With budget cutbacks and employee furloughs, the county has not found enough relief other than to have to cut employees.  As of Feb. 24, 2008, the Haralson County Animal Shelter had to lay-off three dedicated employees.  With that said, there will be drastic changes to our service and operating hours.   We will only be responding to animal bites.  All other emergencies will be handled by the city police departments or the sheriffs department.  Please be patient with us.   I feel optimistic that this is only temporary and our economy will bounce back.  Please do not think that our professional service will be less than that.  It just means that we will have to cut some of our service calls to what is a dire emergency.  Due to the lack of staff to operate on the weekends, we will not be opening the shelter to the public on Saturdays until further notice.  We will accept animal drop-offs and do animal adoptions Monday thru Thursday 12pm - 5pm.

Thank you for your cooperation.
