To adopt an animal from The Haralson County Animal Shelter, come to the shelter and find the animal you want.  Fill out the appropriate paper work, and according to how many animals you get, pay the adoption fee and the animal is your new pet.

The adoption fee is $40.00 any animal (Visa/MasterCard or Check).  If you adopt more than one animal (on the same day) the price of the next animal is only $20
.00.  We offer the first parvo/distemper shot on dogs and puppies and the first panleukopenia shot for cats and kittens.   All animals recieve a "24 Pet Watch" microchip.  (Included in the adoption fee.)

It is the State Law of Georgia that all animals adopted from a government animal shelter be spayed and/or neutered when the animal becomes of a mature age. (Usually that is at 6 months)  Therefore, if you adopt an animal from this shelter, it must be altered by a licensed veterinarian and also have its rabies vaccine given by the age of four months by a licensed veterinarian.

The contract you sign, when adopting, is a binding contract that will hold up in court if you fail to get your pet spayed and/or neutered or get its rabies vaccine.  You may receive a citation and have to appear in magistrate court if you fail to fulfill your obligations on your contract.  Please, if you adopt, get your animals fixed and its rabies shot.  It's alot cheaper than having to appear in court.
